Headlining today’s news, violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo has many mission groups praying for peace and safety. However, the national staff of the Evangelical Free Church Mission continues to work there. Jim Snyder is the director of Compassion Ministries with the E-V Free Church. He says they’ve been struck by the violence. “We received information that a bomb had been dropped on a mission station where we have been involved there. But, the extent of the damage is still unknown.” According to Snyder they’ve also been the targets of military aircraft machine gun fire. He says they’re currently helping with medical and school supplies, but prayer for the national church is most essential. “For safety and wisdom for the national leadership. It very difficult to work in the country right now because things are not only tenuous but in some ways blockaded by military activity.” Despite the violence, the church is growing.
