(Indonesia)-Our newscast begins today in Indonesia, where intelligence sources say dozens of al-Qaeda operatives have found safe haven in the world’s most populous Muslim nation. Missionaries fear the operatives may be joining forces with the Laskar Jihad. That spells trouble for evangelistic work, according to a Southern Baptist International Mission Board affiliate, Chris Cole. “I think the question comes up, ‘Can Christians from other countries do the work that they need to do, as the situation escalates. Some missionaries will choose to stay, and other missionaries will choose to leave the situation because of their families.” Cole says the church is asking for prayer support. “Pray for the church to be bold, pray for the church to be courageous. Pray for the church to take every opportunity to boldly evangelize and to understand that Jesus, did in fact say that, ‘we are blessed when we are persecuted.'”
