(Madagascar)–Madagascar headlines today’s news as an attempted coup and martial law has many wondering about the country’s future. However, ministry leaders believe this is a great time for evangelism. Book of Hope’s Mike Medley says the martial law and the general strike have had an impact on their distribution. “Because of the strikes, many of the schools are closed. We do Book of Hope distribution through the schools and so that has hampered some of the distribution and some of the progress, but not all of the schools are closed. So, the schools that are still open they’re receiving the Book of Hope.” Medley says a gift of one-dollar puts a Book of Hope in the hands of three students. He says the program is very effective. “The people are very poor and this may be the only book that any of those kids own, or that a family owns. And, the children take it home, the parents read it and they too receive Christ and it’s building the church.”
