(Zimbabwe)–Meanwhile, the African Church Information Service is reporting that Zimbabwe’s First Lady believes the church holds a key role in turning the AIDS disaster around. Grace Mugabe is quoted as saying that anti-AIDS messages call for behavioral change, which is achievable only through preaching of the Gospel. The First Lady said the health, social and economic implications of the disease were staggering and called on Christians to help. Zimbabwe is considered to have one of the fastest rates of HIV infections in sub-Saharan Africa.
