Story number 2 for 3 Sep 2001

(USA)–Next, it’s Labor Day in the United States. A day when Americans celebrate Labor and it’s impact on American society. However, today we’d like to honor missionary laborers who are putting their lives on the line each day. New Tribes Mission’s Scott Ross knows missionary work can be dangerous. “We ultimately had five missionaries taken in Colombia. Two were killed back in 1996. We still have three missing in Colombia. They were taken in 1993. And then recently in the Philippines in late May we had Martin and Gracia Burnham taken by an Islamic group.” Ross is asking people to pray for safety of those in the field, but also for their emotional well being which helps keep them there. “We have 3,200 missionaries around the world all being away from families even during events like Labor Day. And, that’s a hard thing. Sometimes Satan will plant some things in your mind to make you think that you’re suffering.”
