(England)–A strategic meeting is currently underway in England that will help define the evangelistic thrust of the Baptist World Alliance. More than 160 leaders from 60 countries are meeting for a summit on Baptist Missions in the 21st century. BWA’s Wendy Ryan says they’re addressing a new phenomenon in the worldwide church today. “What used to be the receiving churches in Latin America, Africa and Asia have now become the most explosive growth of evangelical Christianity. Then, in those churches in Europe and into North America, those churches are declining.” Ryan believes much will be accomplish during the five-day summit. “At the end of the summit we will issue a declaration that will call Baptists to a new commitment to winning the world for Jesus Christ, working in partnership with mission groups around the world.”
