Story number 3 for 8 Jan 2002

By January 8, 2002

(Nigeria)–More than three thousand people have sought refuge in the capital of Nigeria’s Plateau State. Authorities believe the militia launched a reprisal attack on villagers for Muslim casualties during violent fighting with local Christians last September. The sectarian riot in Jos was one of several that rocked Nigeria recently. It follows the adoption of Islamic law by several predominantly Muslim northern states. Please pray for the safety of local believers, and that missions outreach in the area can continue.
