USA (MNN) — Keys for Kids Ministries’ eighth annual Summer Reading Club begins June 1.
Families can have daily WORD with Zach devotional materials mailed to them or can listen to the content online.
Teens can also participate in the Summer Reading Club with mailed Unlocked devotionals or online content.
Greg Yoder with Keys for Kids says that the online devotionals work well to bring new people in and allow the material to go farther around the world. However, 60% of the teenagers who use the materials prefer the printed format so that they can dig into the studies with friends and take notes.

Between WORD with Zach and Unlocked, Yoder says, “We have hundreds and hundreds of kids, literally around the world, reading every day from June to the end of August.”
Yoder says there is an opportunity to develop amazing Bible study and daily devotional times with the hope that kids will continue these practices throughout adulthood.
“I’m amazed at how many parents have told us, because of the Summer Reading Club, their kids have gone day after day after day after day studying God’s Word,” Yoder said.
Parents are encouraged to use the “SOAP” method of studying the Bible with their children so that they can better understand the Scriptures and allow them to transform their lives.
“S” stands for Scripture reading, “O” stands for observing what’s in the Scripture, and “AP” stands for applying Scripture to their lives.
Yoder says some kids have “Soaped” for up to 400 or 500 days in a row.
Yoder says, “You hear parents saying things like, ‘My kids never really wanted to read the Bible before, and now, because of Keys for Kids and the Summer Reading Club or Unlocked and the Summer Reading Club, they’re doing that more. It’s become family time together. It’s created that time where we’re all just going to be a part of the Summer Reading Club right now.’”
Kids in the Summer Reading Program are encouraged during the study through monthly prize drawings upon completion of that month’s devotions.
To join the program, go to wordwithzach.org/ or unlocked.org/summer/.
“You can sign up anytime you want during the whole program. You can even make up some of the days if you want to qualify for the prizes,” Yoder says. “But, we’re encouraging people to do it now and kind of get ready to download calendars to check off when you do your daily reading.”
Please pray that families will get involved and that kids will draw near to Christ through their time in God’s Word.
