USA (MNN) — For Christians, the Thanksgiving Holiday in the United States is typically a time to gather with family and friends to thank God for the many blessings He’s given. It’s also a time to help those who are in need. And, that’s exactly what Here’s Life Inner City would like to do again this year.

With countless thousands of people displaced because of Hurricane Katrina, many are struggling for survival in the city where they work. In some areas they’re turning to church and neighborhood missions for help. Organizations that Here’s Life has helped for years. Katrina has only made a bad situation desperate and your help is needed.

According to Here’s Life’s National Director Ted Gandy they have the potential to distribute 23,000 Boxes of Love holiday boxes. These boxes have enough food to feed up to six people. Even more than providing food, it provides opportunities for church members to share their faith.

Every $36.71 donated to Here’s Life will provide a Box of Love which includes a turkey (with stuffing), or a ham, a roast, or chicken, along with vegetables, potatoes, juice, yams, apple or cranberry sauce, bread, fruit, dessert, plus Scriptures and children’s literature. While you may not be able to reach out personally, the financial gift you provide enables Christians somewhere else to share God’s love physically and spiritually one-on-one.
