Urban outreach in the U-S needs your help

By May 9, 2006

USA (MNN) — They would like to send out 175 college students to minister in inner cities around the United States. The goal is simple; to serve alongside urban churches and missions armed with resources to share the Gospel with children who live there. It’s Here’s Life Inner City’s ‘Summer in the City’ outreach.

This year these students will share the Gospel in one-on-one outreach with kids. They’ll also produce outreach events with urban churches, tutor teens, minister in jails, serve in food pantries, visit rehab centers and much more all in the name of Christ.

But, there’s a problem. Too many children in the U-S have never heard the name of Jesus or that He loves them. There’s also another problem — a funding shortage of about $58 a week per student.

The plan is to send students to Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, Minneapolis/Saint Paul, New York, Seattle and Washington, D.C, so your help is needed now. According to Here’s Life’s National Director Ted Gandy, “Your gift today makes their personal, powerful ministry possible.”

The funding and prayers you offer provides the tools needed to reach out to young people who would otherwise never hear the Gospel. Go to our website to get connected.
