Volunteers needed for Urbana 09

By August 20, 2009

United States (MNN) — InterVarsity Christian Fellowship
needs a total of over 2,000 volunteers to help run Urbana 09 in St. Louis this
December.  800 people are still needed.

Many volunteers live in St. Louis, but others will travel
from different areas.  All of them are
people who want to help 20,000 attendees enjoy the 22nd triennial student
missions conference in the Edward Jones Dome and the America's Center.

The conference will run December 27-31, and volunteers will
help December 26-January 1.  Staff need
both full-time volunteers, or stewards, and part-time volunteers.  Volunteers may have the opportunity to attend
a conference session and the exhibit hall.

Anyone who is not in high school or college can help.  People attending the conference can sign up
to be Stadium Servants or Communion Servers.
Volunteer work can also people who have management skills, people skills,
communication skills, organizational skills, profesiional skills, computer
skills, physical strength, ability to drive in winter weather, and availability
before and after the conference.

InterVarsity will hold the Urbana 09 Volunteer Rally for
everyone who is interested in volunteering on the morning September 12, at
Memorial Presbyterian Church.  Volunteers
are not required to attend.

Sign up today to help Urbana 09 run smoothly, and educate and
energize thousands of people for world missions.

"We try to create an environment
that allows God to work in the lives of Urbana attendees," said Urbana director
Jim Tebbe. "Volunteers play a very important role. One of the main reasons that
our move to St. Louis for Urbana 06 went well was because of the local
volunteers."
