We get an update on a housing project in Sri Lanka.

By August 31, 2006

Sri Lanka (MNN)–IN Network says a collaborative housing project they’re helping with in Batticaloa, Sri Lanka, is nearing completion. In 2004, a tsunami destroyed the area.

A large proportion of the received funds has gone toward the joint venture by IN Network, HOMSA and Every Home for Christ; the constructing of 150 homes in small townships of 30 homes each.

Today, team members say families occupy 120 houses of the 150 they committed to build. The houses, each approximately 500 sq.ft. in floor area, also include indoor plumbing.

Many of the villages being built also include infrastructure work, such as paving roads, building parapet wall and constructing a playground for children.

The housing project completion is a testimony to the Lord’s faithfulness. As villages respond to the outpouring of aid, workers share with them the reasons why they’re there. Local churches then provide follow up. Pray for open hearts.
