The fact that Gospel witness on Native American reservations is typically unsuccessful is not always addressed within the Christian community. Ron Hutchcraft with Ron Hutchcraft Ministries says a lot of people are unaware of challenges of presenting the Gospel in these environments. The people who are reaching Native America communities are the Native American youth.

“These are young Native Americans who have lived all the brokenness…and who’ve been transformed by a brown skin, Mediterranean Jew, who happens to be our savior Jesus,” Hutchcraft says.

Need for Fellowship

However, while finding Christ brings healing, new challenges emerge, too. Young Native believers are usually the only believers in their family, schools, or even reservations.

“We all know that we need fellowship to live for Christ. Well, it’s pretty hard for them to find any,” Ron Hutchcraft with Ron Hutchcraft Ministries says.

This Winter Conference, one Hutchcraft calls “mission-critical”, is a time of bringing together young Native American believers to celebrate Christmas, even though their families typically do not celebrate, and commit the new year to God. It is a time for these young believers to find rest, too.

“Many of them come with wounds that they’ve experienced during the last few months, because of the target that they are. Those wounds need bandaging up. They need healing. They need fellowship. They need renewal. They need to put some more logs on the fire of the passion that they had to reach their people for Christ,” Hutchcraft says.

Next Steps

Right now, this conference needs prayer. Ask God to remove the barriers preventing young Native Americans from coming to this conference. Pray for the speakers, teachers, and others participating in the Winter Conference as they teach, lead, and pour into these young people. Also, pray for the provision of the resources needed to make this conference happen.

The Winter Conference is not yet fully funded. Will you consider helping?

“There’s actually a $100,000 matching gift right now. If people will give toward that, their gift is doubled and that gift will go directly to helping us equip these young leaders including the conference that is now only days away. So hutchcraft.com, you’ll come up right away to a little video, and then you have an opportunity to double your gift,” Hutchcraft says.
