This escalation comes nearly a week after communications devices used by Hezbollah exploded in Lebanon, killing more than 30 and wounding thousands.

“I was on the phone with my family last night because rockets are flying in the north, and I’m from the north,” says Zev Sigulim with MegaVoice. Sigulim has served as a reservist in the Israel Defense Forces, or IDF. 

“At this point, I keep praying. I hope things just resolve. Deep down inside, I’m always hoping for peace.”

Sigulim says his children’s school has been canceled and moved to Zoom. “It’s reminiscent of the [coronavirus] days, and you don’t really know how to plan,” he says. 

Although requests for MegaVoice audio Bibles are coming in, Sigulim says Houthi attacks in the Red Sea have led to supply chain issues and potential delays in Bible distribution. 

“We are getting many requests for audio Bibles to be distributed amongst the soldiers and with displaced families, and also for the other side,” Sigulim says. “We’ve had projects for both sides.” 

Prayer is the best response right now. Sigulim points to Psalm 122 which says to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Believers in the Middle East and across the world need Great Commission focus throughout this unfolding conflict. 

“Pray for unity in the Body of Christ. If we can keep our eye on the goal of spreading the gospel, unity in Jesus and focusing on being witnesses to our neighbors, then our efforts become much more effective,” Sigulim says.

Kurt Rovenstine with Bibles for China explains, “There’s actually quite a large Chinese population (in Russia). They kind of live together within Moscow, but also along the border up above in extreme northeastern China.”

In 2022 the team was ready with a partner organization to distribute the Bibles to Chinese people living in Russia. But then the Russia-Ukraine conflict broke out and plans had to change. 

Rather than keep the Bibles in a warehouse indefinitely, they released them to Chinese churches in the Moscow area for use in training and evangelism. Then they waited. 

More than a year later, they have received word that all 50,000 Bibles were distributed.

“Just in the last few months, the last of those (50,000) were all distributed. That was very, very much an encouragement to the work that we do, and a reminder that, that God is good, you know, when we step out on faith.” Rovenstine says.

“Those Bibles are in the hands of people who at least have the opportunity to read them and to discover the truth that they contain. That was very much an encouragement to the work that we do, and a reminder that God is good. When we step out on faith, and even when it seems as if there are roadblocks before us, God opens doors and gets the truth out to those who want to read it,” Rovenstine says.

Praise God for His living Word, and pray for more open doors for Bibles for China to reach Mandarin-speaking families.

“The power of the Word of God is amazing. God is not going to let that truth go away simply because the world is opposed to it. When God’s people walk in obedience, He opens doors for us to do the work that we do,” Rovenstine says.

“Now, not only do people have medical equipment, not only do they have musical instruments, but they have the only thing that doesn’t return void, and that is the word of God,” Woolford says.

Pray for protection for the Mission Cry team, their families, and on-the-ground partners. Their work spreading God’s Word comes under direct spiritual warfare. 

“The very real devil hates what we’re doing. We’re sending the Word of God, God Himself through the Bible, to people around the world who could have never got one or afforded it,” Woolford says.

In some places around the world, distributing Bibles can cost a person their life, their business, their safety. (Read one story from Pakistan last year.)

Finally, consider partnering with Mission Cry in this critical work. Woolford shares that they have three containers ready to go, fully packed. All they need are sponsors to send them overseas.
