On Tuesday, the military junta declared a ceasefire till the end of May, ostensibly to help with earthquake recovery efforts. However, during the previous April ceasefire, war monitors reported dozens if not hundreds of breaches by the junta, including relentless bombings of areas such as Rakhine state’s Kyauktaw township.

Few people in Myanmar, if any, expect this next ceasefire to be different.

Meanwhile, the UN World Health Organization says nearly 6.3 million people need urgent help. Brian Dennett with AMG International describes quake survivors still living in makeshift shelters.

“Rainy season starts normally in May, and that’s coming, and that’s just going to be very complicated for them,” he says.

Into the massive needs has stepped the network of churches AMG works with. Dennett says they have come alongside hundreds of families with generators, food relief, and other aid. They have been in the process of repairing 26 homes.

“As always, at the center of everything we do is the gospel. So we are not just providing humanitarian aid; we are also providing hope and sharing Jesus as we go about this. And we have the most committed team of gospel-centered workers right there in the field,” says Dennett.

Find your place in the story

As Myanmar navigates internal pressures and desperate needs, would you prayerfully consider giving financial support?

“Christians all over the U.S. have been very generous and given towards this, but our fear, with news coverage coming to an end, [is] it’s really becoming more difficult to raise funds — and yet there’s still a huge need,” Dennett says.

“We do not have the cooperation of the government there, so that’s challenging. If anyone would like to help, you can simply go to amghelp.org and you’ll find Myanmar earthquake relief right at the top of the list.”

A gift of $400 covers the cost of a generator, $100 will provide a temporary shelter, and $50 will provide a family food package.

“Thank you all so much for your prayers and for your support. Our brothers and sisters in Myanmar really need us,” Dennett says.

India (MNN) -- Give kids the Gospel with Mission India's Easter Matching Challenge!

India (MNN) — When young boy Akil began attending a 10-Day Children’s Bible Club in India, he struggled with anxiety and loneliness. His home life was filled with conflict, and Akil had nowhere else to turn.

Raina Miller with Mission India says, “His parents were fighting at home all the time. His dad was really busy with work, and his mom was busy performing rituals to their gods because she was very superstitious. His parents had differing belief systems and it caused a lot of arguments between them.”

A friend had invited Akil to the 10-Day Bible Club run by Mission India. What started as a simple invitation turned into something life-changing.

“He was just surrounded by love and joy like he hadn’t experienced before — and stability that he definitely didn’t have at home,” says Miller. “As he was at the Bible Club each day, he felt relaxed in a way that he didn’t feel at home.”

Akil played games with other kids, sang songs, and most importantly, heard about Jesus for the first time.

Miller says, “He noticed that the Bible stories he was hearing contradicted what his parents believed, but he believed in them, and he believed in Jesus. He was moved and received Jesus as his Savior!”

Akil, a boy who first learned about Jesus at a 10-Day Children’s Bible Club. (Photo courtesy of Mission India)

Akil returned home transformed and he began sharing the Bible stories he learned with his family. His mother, moved by the change in her son, left behind her superstitious practices. By God’s grace, there is more peace now in Akil’s home.

While Akil’s parents haven’t yet made decisions to follow Jesus, they are open and curious — and continuing to explore the Gospel because of their son’s testimony.

Miller says stories like Akil’s aren’t uncommon. “We see kids all the time leading others to Christ…. Kids come to a Bible Club for the first day and love it so much that they want to bring their brothers and sisters and friends the next day. So the impact just grows from there.”

With 356 million children under the age of 15, India holds one of the greatest opportunities to reach the next generation for Jesus.

This Easter, Mission India is inviting believers to get involved in a simple but powerful way.

Through April 21, donations to the 10-Day Children’s Bible Clubs are being matched dollar for dollar, up to $350,000. That means every $1 sends two children like Akil to a Bible Club where they’ll hear about Jesus — and potentially change their families from the inside out.

“I don’t know what better Easter gift you could give than introducing a child to Jesus,” says Miller.

India (MNN) -- See your donation to 10-Day Children's Bible Clubs doubled!

India (MNN) — For six long years, Samrina’s life was overshadowed by pain. A persistent stomach ulcer plagued her childhood, leaving her parents desperate for answers. Doctors searched for solutions, but none could bring relief.

Then Samrina’s parents heard about a 10-Day Children’s Bible Club from a Christian relative. Although they themselves were not believers, her parents figured it would be an enjoyable distraction for their young daughter.

From Samrina’s first day, Raina Miller with Mission India says, “She loved it! There were tons of fun activities. There were songs that she got to sing about Jesus that had fun dances and motions to them, and then she memorized Scripture verses too. All this is just kind of new to her.”

Samrina (Photo courtesy of Mission India)

But most of all, “The message of Jesus really spoke to her,” Miller says. “She was just amazed that God loved her. After her life had been pretty much dominated by pain and desire for healing [from] medical issues, she was amazed to discover that her life really had purpose — no matter what she might be going through.”

With childlike faith, Samrina decided to bring her greatest need before Jesus. She prayed for healing.

“One of the incredible things about our 10-Day Bible Clubs is that the children learn how to pray to Jesus,” said Raina Miller with Mission India. “They understand that Jesus can answer their prayers and that he can do miracles.”

By the end of the 10 days, Samrina experienced what no doctor had been able to provide — complete healing. The pain that had tormented her for years was gone, and her family could not deny the miracle they witnessed.

Overcome with gratitude, her parents began attending church, eager to learn more about the God who had healed their daughter. “Now we’re just praying that her parents come to salvation,” says Miller.

“We’re so excited about what’s to come this summer as more children like Samrina find hope and even healing and eternal life in Christ through this 10-Day Children’s Bible Club!”

Across India, thousands of children will step into these clubs — some battling struggles of their own, and all seeking joy, love, and hope. You can help introduce them to the love of Christ!

Just $1 typically allows one child to attend a 10-Day Children’s Bible Club. But right now, Mission India is running an Easter matching challenge that doubles every dollar given until April 21.

See your gift expanded to reach more kids in India with the Gospel! Give to Mission India’s matching challenge here.

Then, pray for these kids attending 10-Day Children’s Bible Clubs to become lights for Jesus in their generation.

For Iran, it’s already not been a good year. Dr. Hormoz Shariat with Iran Alive Ministries says that after the events of 2024 and of 2025 so far, “the Iranian government has lost its influence in the Middle East.”

He says Iran’s proxies Hamas, Hezbollah and players in Syria have been destroyed. On top of that, Iran has already lost the support of the Iranian people, plus suffered financial losses.

“Now with Trump in power, it’s going to be even worse with maximum pressure and sanctions,” he says. “So [the] Iranian government is really desperate right now for survival.”

The people of Iran are suffering along with the government, though in sharper ways. “They’re suffering because of [the] economy. They’re suffering because of the government. The government is so afraid of the people … that anybody [who] speaks up will be killed,” Shariat says, pointing to recent uprisings in the past few years which the government responded to with brutal crackdowns.

But despite the continued undercurrent of defiance of Iranians, their outlook is still grim.

“People are in such a desperate way that they say, ‘What else is there? Who can save us? If we come on the streets, they will kill us,’” says Shariat. “So [the] people of Iran are looking for a savior.”

As the Iranian regime grips its own people, Iran Alive broadcasts the hope of Jesus into Iranian homes through a 24/7 satellite channel.

“The message we have is, ‘No human can be your Savior. Don’t trust in human[s]. They say something and they change their mind. The prince is not your Savior. Netanyahu is not your Savior. Trump is not your Savior. Jesus is your only Savior left.’”

Please ask God for more spiritual breakthroughs in Iran. “We are facing a dark spirit of Islam. It’s named in Daniel 10 ‘the Prince of Persia,’” says Shariat. “So, number one [way to get involved]: prayer. Number two is to support us financially. For any growth, you need the right people and you need finances.

“Number three is [to] get involved. If you have discipleship material, if you have video resources on any subject — not just the Bible, but how to have a good marriage, how to parent — any subject that you can build [up] Christians, you can broadcast on our channel. I invite brothers and sisters to join us using media to help the church in Iran,” says Shariat.

Pakistan (MNN) -- Pakistani Christian partners can't keep Storytellers on the shelves.

Pakistan (MNN) — Keys for Kids Ministries partners with FMI to distribute Storytellers in Pakistan. Storytellers are mp3 players loaded with an audio Bible and Keys for Kids stories. Unfortunately, they’ve hit a devastating roadblock: Lack of funding.

Greg Yoder, Executive Director of Keys for Kids, says, “We literally have kids that want to know spiritual truth in Pakistan – Christian and Muslim families! And the only thing holding us back is not having the funds.

“It just got me thinking, wow, we have the cure. If we had the cure for cancer, we would be providing this and money would be flowing in. But we have the cure for eternal life, and yet we don’t have the funds.”

(Photo of a boy in Pakistan with a Storyteller, courtesy of Keys for Kids Ministries)

Keys for Kids has translated Storyteller content into Urdu for distribution in Pakistan. Many Pakistani kids have to work to help provide for the family and they are unable to read. Biblical audio stories are a critical way to connect with these children and their families and introduce them to Jesus.

As word-of-mouth spreads, the demand for more Storytellers is growing!

Christian partners in Pakistan tell Keys for Kids they literally can’t keep Storytellers on the shelves, they go so quickly.

“As we’re hearing these stories from our friends there…they said, ‘We don’t have any more in inventory in the Urdu language,'” Yoder says. “I’m thinking to myself, ‘Why? Why is this?’ It’s simply, we don’t have the money. That’s the bottom line.”

The ministry knows one Pakistani pastor who says he could easily distribute 600 Storytellers per month, if only he could continue to get them.

Yoder explains, “One hundred and fifty people generally, on average, will listen to a Storyteller…. I mean, think about that – 600 [Storytellers] times 150 is 90,000 people; 90,000 people times 12 [months] is one million people!”

If just 20 churches, businesses, or individuals gave $500 a month to Keys for Kids, one million people in Pakistan would hear the Gospel over the next year.

Keys for Kids also plans to translate Storyteller audio content into Pashto for distribution in neighboring Afghanistan.

Give any amount today at the Keys for Kids website!

Yoder also asks, “Pray that somehow, beyond whatever we could ask or imagine, God would provide funding in the most amazing way, that we could see not only Pakistan but Afghanistan reached for the Gospel.”

International (MNN) -- Ministry gets a new name, keeps the same heart and mission!

International (MNN) — World Mission is passionate about taking the Gospel to people groups who don’t know Jesus. To better reflect the ministry’s heart, World Mission is changing its name to Unknown Nations!

The moniker change comes from Jesus’ last words in Acts 1:8 when He told the disciples, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Greg Kelley has been the CEO of World Mission – now Unknown Nations – for 25 years. Kelley says, “We would love to see people really analyze that in their own world, whether it’s as an individual or in their local church, and say, ‘What is our expression of the last thing Jesus said? The ends of the earth?’

“With that in mind, we are changing our name because our laser focus is on that mission to unknown nations. So World Mission is no longer. We’ll now be Unknown Nations. We’re very excited about it, and we believe that it says a lot more specifically about what God has called us to.”

Out of 8 billion people worldwide, roughly 3.4 billion live in unreached people groups — meaning they have no access to the Gospel. A people group is generally considered “reached” with the Gospel when at least 2% of the population begins following Jesus Christ.

The highest concentration of unreached people groups live in a geographic region known as the 10/40 Window. The region stretches from 10 to 40 degrees north, from Morocco to Japan and all the countries in between.

Unfortunately, only 1% of Christian giving in Western churches goes towards sending the Gospel to unreached people groups.

Kelley says, “The most needy spiritual countries that are filled with hundreds and hundreds of people groups don’t live in the places that we primarily do foreign missions. So that’s a problem. We need to start paying attention to the spiritual conditions. If everybody who comes in contact with Unknown Nations does that assessment, then we view that as a win.”

Unknown Nations’ heart and mission have not changed from when they were known as World Mission. But with a new name, the ministry seeks to put a spotlight on peoples who desperately need Jesus — if only they could hear the Gospel!

Check out Unknown Nations’ new website and learn how to get involved!

USA (MNN) — Mission India partnered with Barna on missions research with surprising findings.

USA (MNN) — Which generation do you think gives most frequently to support Gospel missions? Boomers? Generation X? The answer is actually Millennials!

Mission India recently partnered with Barna Group on a report called The Great Disconnect. The report shares research on the American Church’s current views regarding missions.

“I was a little surprised,” says Bartholomew* with Mission India. “As a Millennial, I keep hearing we don’t go to church, we’re not this, [or] we’re not that. But Millennials actually have surpassed older generations in giving to missions. Now, Boomers in that sense are giving more financially, but Millennials are giving more frequently in higher volumes of gifts.”

The Millennial generation includes anyone born from 1981 to 1996. Millennials are between the ages of 26 and 41 today.

Another interesting finding from the report showed “more than half of the churched Millennials — 51% — say that if their church donated a percentage of its annual budget to missions, this would motivate them to give more.”

Unfortunately, 70% of all churched Christians have no idea how many missionaries their church supports.

“I would imagine churches actually do give a nice chunk of percentage of money to missions,” Bartholomew says. “But Millennials are saying, ‘Hey, I don’t even know if they’re giving to missions. But if they did and I was aware of that, I would give more.'”

Bartholomew says this research is incredibly helpful to church leadership. “I think as a church leader, one could also extrapolate and say, ‘Well, if they’re giving more and they’re excited about what we’re doing with missions, they are probably going to be more engaged with our church.’ So I think this report, as a church leader, can really help you say, ‘How do I reach Millennials?’”

The Great Disconnect report also found Millennials are more likely to give toward an indigenous missions model.

“My personal view on this [is] Millennials and Gen Z are ready to reclaim this idea of how we do missions,” Bartholomew says. “Millennials and Gen Z primarily have experienced the sending model. But I think there’s also this inherent feeling in the back of their minds, like is that really the right way?

“There’s a refrain I usually hear or I’ve actually said myself when I’ve gone on a sending trip. ‘I think I got more out of the trip than what I gave.’ That is something that really has shaped my view of missions over my life of 35 years…. I understand the sentiment, but if we’re truly doing missions efficiently and having missions be something that can withstand and be stable going forward without me being there, there has to be a better way of doing that.”

Bartholomew adds, “Now, I will have this caveat. I’m not saying get rid of the sending model and the way we know missions! I think there’s merit to it. I think where I’m coming from is saying, but is that the only way we should look at missions going forward?

International (MNN) — After leaving ministry in Poland, Warren and Brenda found other ways to serve.

International (MNN) — What do you do when the Lord calls you to be a missionary, but then you’re forced to leave the mission field?

That’s the question that faced American missionary couple Warren and Brenda Pfohl. Their story was recently shared by Jesus Film Project.

Despite frustrating circumstances, this couple is still “on mission” no matter where God has them.

Warren and Brenda Pfohl (Image courtesy of Jesus Film Project)

When they sensed the Holy Spirit calling them to be missionaries in Poland, the Pfohls sold everything they could, packed up the rest, and followed God’s leading. They learned the Polish language, established a team, and even started a church.

But after some time, Brenda Pfohl got very sick. Heartbroken and confused, the couple had to leave Poland and go back to the United States.

The Pfohls started searching for other ways to get involved in missions.

Then they learned about Jesus Film Project, the ministry that has produced the JESUS Film in over 1,800 languages! They were amazed by stories of communities who’ve never heard the Gospel coming to Christ after watching a movie about Jesus in their heart language.

The couple began giving to fund more translations of the JESUS Film.

Brenda Pfohl says, “Jesus Film [Project] is our favorite organization to give to because of how committed they are to the Great Commission. They are so committed to reaching the world for Christ.”

USA (MNN) — Wycliffe USA has released their 2020 gift catalog.

USA (MNN) — As the country faces an uncertain financial future, one report says 40% of those surveyed plan to spend less this holiday season. These reports are particularly troubling for nonprofits that rely on end of year giving.

(Photo courtesy of Wycliffe Bible Translators USA)

Wycliffe Bible Translators USA is one such ministry. Their 2020 gift catalog has been released, featuring a new layout but the same vital, Gospel-centered projects. Melissa Stillman of Wycliffe USA says in these uncertain, difficult times, there are important reasons to partner with Wycliffe not only in spite of the pandemic but also because of it.

“Each of the feature projects represents a group of people who are experiencing the very same global situations that we are, plus any challenges that are specific to the area where they live. They’re doing it all without the comfort of God’s Word in a language and form that they can clearly understand,” she explains.

“A gift to the gift catalog really helps reach those who are waiting for those words of hope and peace we’ve used to get through these months of uncertainty.”

Featured Projects

The gift catalog features a wide variety of projects. If you’re passionate about a specific category, such as children and youth, you can give to a fund that supports all projects in that area. One project that stands out supports the Tugen women in Kenya.

“For years, the Tugen women faithfully read the Bible in a different language that was used throughout their region in Kenya, but as speakers read a portion of the newly translated Gospel of Luke in Tugen aloud, Scripture really touched the hearts of the women that were gathered together,” Stillman says.

“Hearing that message in their language brought the Word of God to life, and the women purchase more than 50 copies of the book of Luke before heading home.”

(Photo courtesy of Devaiah Mallangada Kalaiah via Unsplash)

A gift to support this project would help provide a translation of the book of Ruth, Bible study materials for single mothers and youth, and translated hymns.

“By translating women’s discipleship materials, those who often would feel overlooked will know that God sees, knows, and loves them. Tugen women will also be able to worship in their own language, making their relationships with God personal and real. They’ll encounter the story of a Redeemer who welcomes every orphan, widow, and outcast,” Stillman says.

Another project you can support is Bible translation in Nigeria. This project was part of Wycliffe’s Giving Tuesday campaign, which exceeded the goal of $20,000 by ending at $27,000. Stillman says the ministry is very encouraged by the outpouring of gifts for this effort.

Power in Prayer

Even if you can’t afford to donate to Wycliffe, you can still help. Stillman encourages everyone to engage with these projects.

“We certainly understand that not everyone is going to be able to make a financial gift this year, [but] we hope they could use this catalog as a prayer guide. There’s a lot of great detail [and] we’ve pulled out some wonderful quotes and stories,” she says. “The foundation of our work is prayer.”

USA (MNN) -- SFM remains grateful for the generous donors who support their mission.

USA (MNN) — As many Americans have faced financial struggles due to the pandemic, Set Free Ministries remains grateful for those who support them through sacrificial giving.

Nonprofits across the country have suffered from the economic difficulties caused by the pandemic. With donations falling, many nonprofits have been forced to cut jobs or close altogether. Though many hold out hope for congressional aid, ultimately most nonprofits continue to rely heavily on donor support in these difficult times.

This is as true for Set Free Ministries as it is for other nonprofits. The ministry has what Dean Vander Mey calls the “time, talent, and treasure principle.” This strategy has been an important guiding philosophy during the pandemic when the ministry decided to begin helping people virtually.

“Our volunteers, who have time and talent, stepped up, and they became the heartbeat of the ministry, helping people out from their homes and getting on zoom calls,” Vander Mey says. “It’s really been a remarkable year when it comes to the time and talent piece.”

(Photo courtesy of Brad Neathery via Unsplash)

With the difficult state most nonprofits have found themselves in across the country, Vander Mey knows Set Free has been blessed with the treasure portion as well.

“We’ve seen amazing things happen this year. We had a 25th-anniversary celebration, and we raised probably 50% more money than we’ve ever raised in 25 years. We wouldn’t exist without the faithful donors of Set Free who give time, talent, and treasure,” he says.

How Giving Helps

Vander Mey explains that Set Free works with its donors through Barnabas Ministries to be creative with giving and make wise financial moves along the way. These donations are crucial in supporting this ministry that never charges anyone for the help they give.

“Our goal is to give back to others, not only in this community but globally. We have thousands and thousands of students overseas who are in several Christian schools that we have built and sponsored. We’re currently building a new high school in Uganda where 2,000 youth that would have never been able to afford a Christian education are going [attend],” Vander Mey says.

“When you give to us, our intent is to give back to the community and to give to others. You’re going to get a pretty big bang for your buck when you give to Set Free Ministries because a lot of the money goes directly into the hands of other people.”

Need for Prayer

(Photo courtesy of Fa Barboza via Unsplash)

In addition to financial support, Vander Mey asks for prayer for the ministry as the new year approaches but many struggles from 2020 will likely remain.

“Pray for health for our staff and volunteers, and also pray for endurance. We’ve had an amazing influx of calls from all over the world, and we’re probably at 50% more freedom appointments than we’ve ever had in the history of our US operations,” he says.

“We live in uncertain days right now. There’s a lot of anger. There’s a lot of rage. There’s a lot of anxiety, a lot of fear, and we’re trying to refocus and get people refocused on the Master. If Jesus is in our boat, we don’t have to panic.”
