A Christian alliance gives Nicaragua $60 million shot in the arm.

Nicaragua (MNN)–A truck filled with more than $60 million worth of medical equipment and supplies will make a big difference to the people of Nicaragua.

It’s the collaborative effort between Operation Blessing International, People In Action, and the church.

Collecting the supplies and getting donations from hospitals was one big step. Getting the supplies to Nicaragua is another hurdle that has been overcome through collaboration. A local church in the Ozarks is paying for part of the load, and People That Care is handling the shipping. A local business owner provides the warehouse space.

OBI is sending five million doses of antibiotics will help people with respiratory illnesses. Another five million doses of medications will treat diabetes, hypertension and high blood pressure, while 500,000 doses of anti-tuberculosis medication will help control that disease.

Also in the shipment, muscle relaxers, pain medication and even cough suppressants that are rare commodities in Nicaragua.

All of the medicines and equipment will be sent to the capital of Nicaragua, and distributed by the government. Much of it will go to hospitals which serve the entire eastern coast.

Through their assistance, OBI supports churches hoping to make an impact on needy communities with the love of Christ.
