A dedication reminds believers of the Great Commission’s urgency.

International (MNN)–54 new International Mission Board missionaries were recently commissioned in a Jan. 25 service at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Colonial Heights, Virginia.

The group was reminded of the urgency of the Great Commission, as recorded in Matthew 28:19-20, in light of the hundreds of thousands of lives lost in the tsunami disaster.

Even with the new group entering the field, the IMB counts one missionary for every 1.2 million people around the world. As of Dec. 31, 2004, a reported 5,163 field personnel were under appointment in the IMB.

With the help of their partners, like the North American Mission Board, the IMB hopes to enlist and train nearly three-thousand more mission workers by the end of this year.
