India (MNN)–India’s size and diversity makes it one reason why the Southern Baptist International Mission Board is targeting the country with prayer.
One-sixth of the world’s population lives there, the majority of which is Hindu or Muslim. The country is thought to have more than 600,000 unreached villages, making it a huge mission field.
Every year on Pentecost Sunday, Southern Baptists devote a day to pray for a people group that has not heard the good news of God’s love and salvation in Jesus Christ. This year, the IMB is encouraging people to set aside a meal or an entire day of meals next Sunday, May 15 to pray for India.
According to information on IMB’s website, organizers chose India because of its strategic positioning to the fulfillment of the Great Commission.
Besides being home to more Hindus than any other nation on earth, India has the world’s third largest Muslim population.
Pray for workers there, for their protection from those who oppose the Gospel.
