California fires continue; believers mobilize

By October 16, 2008

USA (MNN) — The state of California has declared a state of
emergency in Los
Angeles and Ventura counties as two major wildfires continue to
burn. One of the fires doubled in size
to 10,000 acres.

The two fires and several smaller blazes in the area destroyed
more than 60 structures, displacing thousands of residents.

The Santa Ana winds did not pick up to the degree expected
on Wednesday, which brought relief to the fire fighters.

Red Cross chapters are opening the doors of shelters to ensure
that evacuees have a safe place to turn.
CityTeam Disaster Response teams are also working in the area. Through a partnership with Christ in Action
Ministries near the heart of the largest blaze in Southern California, teams
are acting as the hands and feet of Christ among the emergency personnel, as
well as to the families returning to begin cleanup.

However, the ministry needs funds and prayer support. Click
here if you can help.
