Cyclone creates difficult environment for ministry

By February 7, 2008

Papua New Guinea (MNN) – Fear is the general feeling on the island of Papua New Guinea for one IN Network partner ministry.

Director of Kidron Ministries Sammy Maurua said that a cyclone recently hit his village causing extensive damage to the ministry. The church roof was blown off, records and books were destroyed in the administration department, a small classroom was blown down, and a wall in the boys' dormitory was torn off by the winds.

The current estimates are that the damages will cost $20,000 to repair.

On top of this, the second-largest police station in the area was held up by armed men who then set fire to the building.

Maurua asks for prayer through this trying situation.
