Jamaica (MNN) — Food for the Poor has received a donation of 2.4 Million dollars from Citibank Jamaica to build homes for hurricane victims.

The contribution was specifically earmarked to be used to help residents in St. Elizabeth, the “bread basket” of Jamaica, because it supplies the majority of the locally grown foods for the island and has suffered major damages to crops and homes.

Partnering with missionaries, churches and non-government organizations, Food for the Poor has helped provide food, medical supplies and other humanitarian aid to the world’s poorest of the poor.

As the fourth largest international relief organization in the U-S, they have contributed significantly to hurricane relief efforts across the Caribbean.
