MNN to broadcast IDOP via satellite

By November 9, 2004

USA (MNN) — Open Doors with Brother Andrew is calling on Christians to pray for over 200 million suffering believers during the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church this Sunday (November 14, 2004).

During that day, church around the United States and around the world will focus on prayer and support for our brothers and sisters who are being persecuted for their faith in Jesus Christ. Brother Andrew says, “Our hope, of course, is that it will not be restricted to that one Sunday, but that every Sunday indeed every day will be a day of prayer for those who are not as fortunate as we with all the liberty and knowledge and Bibles and so on.”

Brother Andrew says there’s a reason the IDOP event is held every year. “We’re still so totally ignorant of all the suffering in the world for Christ’s sake. Who takes of the suffering Christians, we say we want to do that.”

While persecution is wide-spread, so is discrimination. 200- to 400-million believers face discrimination and alienation for the faith.

Mission Network News will be doing its part to help raise awareness of the plight persecuted believers. “We just feel that the world-wide church needs to focus on this,” says Greg Yoder, the Executive Director of Mission Network News. “We feel like it’s our duty to air this broadcast so more people can identify with believers around the world who suffer daily for their faith in Christ. We also just want Christians to get involved both through prayer and financial support.”

The broadcast will be aired via satellite on Ambassador Inspiration Radio (AA2 left at 8:00 PM Eastern Standard Time) It will also be available on-line at our web site, MNNonline.org.
