Four trips to choose from

International (MNN) — Some children never had the joy of getting new things to go back to school. That's why Orphan Outreach is giving orphans new backpacks for the
upcoming school year.

They just returned from Mission Backpack in Guatemala. Orphan Outreach's Tiffany Taylor said the two areas they stopped at "had never had new backpacks and new school supplies before." One of the locations was with the dump people in Guatemala City who survive by sorting through the garbage everyday.

At the dump location, the supplies are needed to complement their other ministry there.  "Orphan Outreach is partnering with a preschool project that allows these children to have a wonderful Christian education and to provide school supplies," said Taylor.

Each backpack has a special luggage tag. "On that luggage tag we'll have a note to the child from the person who's donated the backpack letting the child know that they are not forgotten, and that's the most important part. This is a way for us to get the Gospel to kids who may never have heard the Gospel before," said Taylor.

Individuals have donated new backpacks and supplies for this outreach.

Their next trip is to Russia October 11 through the 21. If you've been thinking about going on a trip, now's the time, said Taylor. "We urgently need just a few more people to come with us to meet these kids, tell them that God loves them, and give these children a brand new backpack."

The trip locations after that include India in November and trips to Honduras and Guatemala in January.
