Gala addresses worldwide water crisis, features Bill Hybels, Robbie Seay Band

USA (MNN) — What began with a mission trip to Kenya in 1990 has now grown into an international ministry that's reached millions of people in 26 countries with over 10,000 water wells.

Living Water International is a major frontrunner in the fight for safe drinking water. More than that, they are determined not just to provide clean water, but also the truth of the Living Water, Jesus Christ.

"Partnering the water with the Gospel is just like nothing you've ever seen," says one LWI worker. After such a practical but desperate need is met by people who are just serving out of their love for Jesus Christ, many give their lives over to the Lord.

The impact of this ministry is immense. Clean water can mean the difference between life and death for those with disease, dehydration and other health issues. LWI provides physical life and spiritual life by installing wells.

LWI is celebrating 21 years of ministry this year with a gala called One Thirst. The evening will include special guest speaker Bill Hybels, and musical guests Page CXVI and The Robbie Seay Band.

You can be a part of the most significant LWI events of the year, as they explore the many ways that Living Water and churches around the world equip each other to express God's love.

The event is September 30, 2011 in Houston, Texas. Even if you can't be there, you can be a part of this historic night by hosting a live Web cast of the event at your church or home.

One Thirst strives to inspire vision, incite hope, and invite action. If you and your church want to see how God is working throughout the world, this could be the opportunity to do so.

There are several ways you can get involved. Host a table at the gala by clicking here. You can purchase tickets here, and get information on hosting a Web cast here.

If you are able to come to the Houston event in person, consider joining Living Water the day after the gala at their annual Open House on Saturday, October 1, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The event is free, and there will be music, fun, food, and learning activities for kids. Visit with the staff, learn more about the ministry, and enjoy a BBQ lunch prepared by one of our donors and served by volunteers. RSVP here for that event.

Whether you're in Texas or Tahiti, you can be a part of this celebration of God's work. Watch a video of the event and learn more about it here.
