Hope International celebrates milestone

By November 25, 2004

International (MNN/HOPE) — HOPE International recently issued its 20,000th loan. This milestone demonstrates HOPE’s rapid growth; HOPE reached the 10,000 loan mark earlier this year as well.

This landmark loan went to Mama Nyunga Lobo, a bread and doughnut seller in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The $50 loan allowed her to increase her stock and diversify her business. Because of these improvements, Mama Nyunga was able to increase her profits enough to enroll all of her children in school. Her future dream is to save enough money to buy a home for her family and to continue giving her children the opportunity for a better future.

20,000 loans have been disbursed by HOPE, and even more lives have been given the chance for a brighter tomorrow. HOPE offers loans, not grants, to very low income micro entrepreneurs in underserved regions of the world. They work through the local church so sharing Christ as part of the program is the reason for this outreach.
