India (MNN)–There’s more evidence that the new govenrment in India is creating freedom for believers.

The Baptist World Alliance is reporting in a website article the restoration of the Christmas holidays in the government schools in India.

Under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the recognition of the holiday was scrapped. In light of the change, Christians are hailing the move.

The head of the National Council of Churches in India, general secretary Ipe Joseph, calls it a positive signal. He says their alliance hope it will help promote respect for all religions.

Those involved in evangelistic work call the move timely as it opens the door for school-related programs at Christmas. Pray that the hope of Christ reaches the children and that it takes root.
