El Salvador (MNN)–El Salvador’s Kriete Foundation awarded its Top Prize to Living Water International beating 100 nonprofit groups to the 100,000 dollar grant.

The president of the country, the vice-president, supreme court chief justice, an ex-president, cabinet members, the Archbishop and famous Salvadoran artists were all there, along with other powerful names and families.

They were there to honor ten finalists out of 101 NGOs competing for three prizes of $50,000, $75,000, and, for first place, $100,000.

The prestigious competition, dubbed “Helping Those Who Help”, was a showcase of purpose and humanitarian aid. Prior to the event, the team gathered for prayer, praying for the one who could use this prize to most glorify God to win.

To everyone’s surprise, the foundation announced that the seven non-placing NGOs would each win $10,000. The third place prize, $50,000, went to the drug and alcohol rehabilitation center at Maria Auxiliadora Catholic Church.
Second place, $75,000, went to the Carmelite Hospital for improvements in their radiology clinic.

The anticipation was building. Who would claim the top prize? The presenter’s next words were, “Without water there is no life…” And 10 happy Christians from LWI’s El Salvador office went forward to claim the $100,000 prize.

They prayed for the families it would benefit, thanked God for the chance to serve in His name and prayed they would be good stewards of the project’s future.
