OM servant now with the Lord he served

USA/International (MNN) — It's not something you expect, but it happens from time to time. A loyal servant of God is promoted to Glory doing what he or she loves. In this case, it was aboard a ship serving with Operation Mobilization.

Dave Thomas (UK) died suddenly on board Logos II on Monday 19 May following a heart attack. He was serving as Chief Engineer during this final visit of Logos II to ports in the Caribbean. His wife, Joy, was with him on board, and during the week family members came to the ship to be with her.

Thomas was one of OM's longest-serving engineering officers. Dave joined in 1969 when the vision for ship ministry had not yet become a reality. Over the years, he served on Logos, Doulos and Logos II, as well as at the OM UK office as Director. More recently he served at the Ships head office as Technical Manager.

Dave Thomas had great passion for the ministry and was a dedicated and loyal co-worker. He was a tremendous example to many less-experienced personnel in the engine room and will be deeply missed.

Be praying for Joy and the family, the crew and staff of Logos II, and all those who knew Dave and were impacted by his love and service for the Lord. Pray that God will use his dedication to attract many to join OM's ship ministry and that many more would come to know Christ because of his service.
