Short term missionaries needed this summer

By May 10, 2004

International (MNN) — A ministry that partners with church in five countries around the world is looking for a few good men and women this summer. Christian World Outreach helps Christians in Haiti, Burkina Faso, Zambia and Zimbabwe by providing leadership, pastoral and vocational training.

Greg Yoder is with Christian World Outreach. Yoder gives just one example of their work with 65 churches in Haiti. “Pastors said, we’ve got a need, we need this assistance. Just help us train our youth leaders to train our pastors. And, so we annually have a big youth conference that we call “The Great Discovery” and we also have an annual pastors conference,” says Yoder.

However, that’s not where ministry ends. Yoder says they need you to be involved in outreach this summer. “One of our needs is work teams. We enjoy taking people so they can see the ministry happening first hand. So, we need people that are willing to go on a short term mission trip. This summer we have a team going to Haiti in July to do vacation Bible school that we do annually up in the central plateau.” Last year 2,000 children attended.

Yoder says they would like to expand annual events into Burkina Faso this year. “Hopefully this fall we’ll be able to hold a youth event that could become an annual event that we’d be going there with people to teach the leaders” so that they can have evangelistic meetings or whatever they feel may be needed.

Consider what God would have you do for this ministry as financial support and volunteers are essential to seeing the outreach succeed. If you’d like to help, go to our short-term missions web page at http://www.stmdb.org to get more information.
