(Kenya)–We begin today in Africa where sixteen sub-Saharan African countries are facing exceptional food shortages due to natural disasters and civil unrest. Among them, Kenya, a country now faced with a parching drought. Food for the Hungry’s Dave Evans. “The areas we’re working in, there was no agricultural harvest, and the herders have no pasturage for their cattle and no water. Food for the Hungry is feeding more than 100-thousand people a month in northern Kenya. We have distributed over ten-thousand metric tons of food since this time last year.” Evans says their work allows an opportunity for the hope of the Gospel. “I think we have a commitment and a responsibility, based on the Scriptures to reach out to those in need. Our staff see themselves as messengers of the Gospel, whether that’s giving out food or working in health, training farmers, our desire is to do all this in the name of Christ and share the Gospel in both word and deed.”
