(Afghanistan)–Headlining today’s news, indigenous evangelical churches are preparing to help the incredible influx of refugees leaving Afghanistan. Bible Mission International’s Malcolm Smith says they’re already helping in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. “The U-N is predicting at least five and a half million people coming across the borders. And, the church is ready and willing and they are going to minister to the Afghanis as they come across. We have some opportunities that I think will be unprecedented.” Smith doesn’t expect persecution to be an issue as they share the Gospel in this Muslim region. “This is a place where people are fleeing to. They’re scared, they’re tired, they’re hungry. And, when we are there with the love of Christ to give them a warm meal, to give them blankets, to give them a place to feel secure, that becomes a non-issue.” 25-dollars provides food for one needy family.
