(India)–Our newscast begins today with a look at the upcoming G-8 Summit. Ministers from the Group of Eight nations say they want a more permanent solution to the pre-war tensions between India and Pakistan. The Evangelical Free Church Mission says fighting has created interesting obstacles for mission work. For security reasons, we’ll call our source ‘Rahul’. “Tensions create difficulty for a lot of workers. Many of the foreign workers are out now; the nationals, some of them, do not have a vision to reach out to their Muslim neighbors. What we are praying for is that there would be a renewal from within of a motivation to want to reach out to those who have not heard the Gospel yet.” Rahul says because of ongoing persecution, there is much to pray for concerning Christian work in India. “We’re praying for leaders; we’re praying for bi-vocational workers; we’re praying for self-sustaining churches and a movement from within.”
