(Afghanistan)–Headlining today’s news, nearly seven million Afghan people face death if they don’t receive help. That’s the word from Food for the Hungry and World Concern, as they’re partnering with two other relief agencies to give assistance. Food for the Hungry’s Shaun Walsh says this situation’s worse than Africa. “I’ve lived in Africa for 20 years and I haven’t seen anything that compares to the complexity of this emergency. If supplies can’t be taken to them and they can’t get to supplies there will be many, many deaths. There’s no gray area in that.” That’s why they’re collectively raising money to send food and clothing before winter. World Concern’s Kelly Miller says this could do more than help keep the people alive. “To be with the Afghan people and to see their warmth and their reception to us from the west the relationships that can get built from that, you just don’t know where that’s going to go and you just hope that doors are opened.”
