(Afghanistan)–Headlining today’s news, as the Northern Alliance continues to take out Taliban strongholds, Christian relief organizations are following to help the needy. World Vision is one such group who’s moving into the city of Herat. World Vision’s Dave Taylor says they’re helping the internally displaced people. “We actually do have staff now inside of Afghanistan and are preparing to do as much as we can, given how little time we have left before severe winter sets in. The most critical thing is food. So, that’s the focus. And, then the non-food items, blankets warm clothing.” Of the seven-million people in need, they plan to help up to 300-thousand people. Taylor is praying that hearts will change because of their work. “In the traditional sense of immediate expectation of change, I think that’s unrealistic, but in the sense of identifying values and exemplifying those values I think world vision is able to do a lot.”
