Topping today’s news, Gambia’s President recently returned from a peace summit in Togo. He stressed that without peace and stability, there will be no development on the continent. His mindset has led the small, struggling country along the lines of unity. Child Evangelism Fellowship missionary Paul Rog says his approach makes sense. “Gambia happens to be one of the poorest nations on the continent of Africa-that would probably bring to the forefront the need for the peace there. They’re not going to be getting any monetary funds or any support when there is civil unrest.” Rog says the most vulnerable victims of the country’s poverty are the children. “When we went to Africa the first time, I really had no intentions of being a missionary until we came in contact with hundreds of children; not only hunger in their physical being, but hunger in their spirit for God’s Word. We will not leave the United States soil until we know people are going to pray for us.” Paul and Sandy Rog are staying at D&D Missionary Homes in Florida until they finish deputation.
