(Indonesia)–Headlining today’s news, Indonesian lawmakers elected Megawati Sukarnoputri as its fourth president, ousting her predecessor for incompetence. AMG International has work in that country that’s seen increased aggression toward Christians. AMG’s Harold Lovestrand. “President Megawati will have a tolerant attitude toward the Christians. I really don’t anticipate many churches being burned because of this change. The rule of former present Wahid was rather erratic and I think you’ll find that there will be more consistency.” AMG’s Paul Jenks is hoping for one thing. “We’re just hoping for some stability now so that some of this random violence will be brought to an end. Certainly out on some of the islands where Christians have really been in the main focus of outright persecution. We don’t certainly hope that stability will bring intervention that would cause violence to be allowed.”
