Topping today’s news, Philippine warplanes pounded a mountain stronghold of Islamic rebels with rockets, in an ongoing military offensive to free dozens of hostages held by the guerrillas. New Tribes Mission’s Guy Sier says the group is radical enough to cause concern for them. “The Abu Sayyaf group has now made a demand for the U-S to release three Islamic terrorists, and if U-S does not do that, this group has threatened to kidnap or kill American citizens. So, because of being both American and being Christian missionaries, we’re taking that threat very seriously.” Sier asks people to pray for their work in the area. “We just need some real wisdom. Our closest tribal work to a Muslim area currently has vacated and we’re not going to be in a rush to put our missionaries back into there because of this threat. Pray for the safety of missionaries throughout the entire island.”
