Topping today’s news, while there is open hatred against Christians in India, other ministries are finding another way in. American Leprosy Mission’s Sue Renault says their work addresses a basic need and provides help for a vulnerable people group in Madhya Pradesh. “We’ve received a proposal from the Department of Health to help launch a three-year campaign to introduce all the services the region will need to meet the needs of people with leprosy. If we’re not in there with the love of Jesus Christ and God’s healing comfort, nobody will be.” Renault explains that in Central India, their help is urgently needed. “According to the latest global statistics from WHO in Geneva, India accounts for 73-percent of the detection worldwide. The leprosy disease burden is concentrated mainly in Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. These five states represent 51-percent of the new cases detected worldwide.”
