(Colombia)–Topping the news today, peace talks have broken off in Colombia which is causing uncertainty and caution for evangelical missionaries. Latin American Mission’s Ken MacHarg reports how missionaries are coping with the prospects of more violence. “Missionary Stephen Armet says from Bogotá that while some missionaries are planning on leaving the country he does not feel personally threatened. However, he asks for prayer for his family should the situation require them to leave. Meanwhile, Beverly Ramirez in Armenia says she and her family are on alert, but not in panic mode. She says they’re just continuing on as normal. She reported that she and her husband are heightening their efforts to spread the Gospel and bring in more lost sheep as the political and social situation worsens each day. She asks people to pray that God may protect and help them. For Mission Network News, I’m Ken MacHarg.”
