Story number 2 for 18 Jun 2001

By June 18, 2001

(Philippines)–Elsewhere, the tensions in the Philippines have caused some concern for mission groups in the area. Mission Network News’ Ruth Bliss tells us more about how that had an impact on a short-term mission team. “Two teams from Cornerstone University are currently in the Philippines. Due to the long-term nature of the work there, and its sensitive nature, the mission agency will remain unnamed. However, the team in the southern Philippines finished its teaching assignment last week and returned to Manila three days earlier than scheduled due to rumors of possible unrest in the area. However, nothing transpired, and the team left the area without incident. The team is safely in Manila and continuing in ministry opportunities there. The other Cornerstone team in the Philippines is in an area unaffected by the unrest. The Bacolod team will continue ministry until their scheduled departure. Both Cornerstone teams should depart from Manila for the US on June 20th as scheduled. Please continue to pray for their safety. For Mission Network News, I’m Ruth Bliss.”
