Next, while rain is falling in Ethiopia, nearly 10-million people are still going hungry after three years of drought. Food for the Hungry’s Bard Letsinger says the drought left in its wake a severe food shortage. Letsinger says that’s why they established a feeding center, which has been very effective. “There’s more than 500 people attending the feeding center right now. We just got a new shipment of Famex in and we’re going to be able to sustain and keep that feeding center open until at least November. It has actually been so successful that UNICEF has asked up to open another feeding center about 70 miles away from this one.” Letsinger says this is unprecedented in the predominately Muslim area. “By distributing food and bringing these people into a therapeutic feeding centers where we can also give them medical attention and we can show them God’s love. It opens those doors and gives us an opportunity to start touching them spiritually in a way they haven’t been in a long time.”
