Story number 3 for 20 Apr 2001

By April 20, 2001

(Kazakhstan)–Voice of the Martyrs’ reports out of Kazakhstan indicate that the government may consider redrafting legislation that would see Islam and Orthodoxy become the only official religions in the country. Under this legislation, evangelistic outreach could be stymied. Those breaking the law could face penalties of up to one year in corrective labor for spreading extremist religious teaching. Please remember to pray for the former Soviet states where religious liberty is not a reality today.
