(USA)–The International Bible Society is trying to encourage more Americans to read the Bible. IBS’s Glenn Paauw explains why they’re making such a concerted effort in the United States. “While there are lots and lots of Bibles lying around America, not very many people are actually reading those Bibles. Something’s not connecting and people within the church and outside of the church are not reading the scriptures. The United States has become clearly a major mission field. We are now the third largest mission field in the world. There’s only two countries, China and India that have more non-Christians than the United States.” Paauw says the International Bible Society is placing ads to help counter negative images of scripture, challenging people to give scripture a chance and hopefully lead people to Christ.
