Story number 3 for 4 Oct 2002

By October 4, 2002

(Mexico)–Churches in Central America and the Caribbean are responding to damage from two hurricanes. Latin America Mission’s Ken MacHarg reports. “Hurricanes Isadore and Lily have torn the roofs off of homes, wiped out bridges and destroyed many buildings in Cuba, Jamaica, Mexico and other countries. In the Yucatan peninsula of Mexico, Pastor Gaspar Villanueva reported to LAM that churches are working to repair homes and provide temporary roofs for church members. Pastor Villanueva said that members are busy attending to the needs of their congregations, including farmers who lost their animals and crops, but much more is needed. Church pastors are looking for pumps to disperse the water and short term loans for building new homes. Pastor Villanueva asks for prayer that those working will be able to give a testimony and preach the gospel in the midst of the disaster. For Mission Network News, I’m Ken MacHarg.”
