Meanwhile, reports from Brazil say that the country’s urban slums are continuing to grow, increasing by 25-percent in the past decade. In the midst of Brazil’s poverty, Latin America Mission workers are developing Christian camping programs to reach youth from all walks of life. Ken MacHarg reports. “LAM missionary Dinho Pereira and his wife Ginny are building a beautiful camp and training facility near the capital of Brasilia. However, as buildings go up, Dinho says that the most important thing is not the facilities, but building lives. Dinho says there is a three-year waiting list of Brazilian camp directors who want to take his nine-month program in camp leadership. He says that in Brazil, Christian camps are growing and they are seen as an important tool for evangelism. The couple is looking for missionaries who want to work with Brazilian youth and help develop training programs. For Mission Network News, I’m Ken MacHarg.”
