Story number 4 for 20 Apr 2000

By April 20, 2000

We turn next to look ahead at summer. Arab World Ministries is preparing to launch summer ministry teams for work in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. AWM’s Sarah Gerhart describes their purpose. “What attracts people is growing awareness that there is the need in Muslim communities…that many, many Muslims are out there that have never heard the Gospel presented in a clear and understandable way. The Arab world has been in the news a lot lately, and I think God is burdening people’s hearts for Muslims.” Gerhart says on occasion their teams have been met with resistance, and it is here that she believes people should pray: “…that God would provide opportunities, that He would begin preparing the people that they will come into contact [with] this summer even now…and that they would be able to just befriend people in these countries and in these communities in Europe. The main resistance that they face is stereotypes of Christians.”
