(Sudan)–We turn our attention next to Sudan. African newspapers report the American envoy for peace in the Sudan has run into major obstacles. The envoy said he was unable to convince the Khartoum government to end its attacks on Christian targets in the country’s 19-year-old civil war that has claimed more than two million lives and displaced twice that many. A recommendation will be made this spring whether the U.S. should continue its efforts in pursuing a peace process.
