USA (MNN) — Young Life is modeling the unconditional love of Christ through their unique outreach to teen mothers.
YoungLives focuses on reaching the specific needs of teen mothers. They are providing an opportunity for teen moms to experience a week of camp while volunteers care for the babies during the day at the camp.
Betsy Stretar is the YoungLives Director of Programs for Teen Moms. She says the camp is focused on evangelism and building relationships. “It’s an incredible springboard for the girls as they go back home, for us to kind of go into that next phase of discipleship for them. So they’ve been introduced to Christ, they have some solid relationships, there are good things in place. So it becomes a great springboard for us to go to the next level with them.”
Stretar says God is doing incredible things in the hearts of His people, and is working in exciting ways. The YoungLives camp program invites you to help. They need 100 volunteers for this unique missions outreach. This special week will take place in July at a Young Life camp in Arizona.
Stretar says, “He loves and has called us to care for the poor and the widow and the orphan, and these truly are modern-day widows and orphans right in our neighborhoods and in our backyards, and they so desperately need to know Jesus, and that’s what we’re about.”
Many of the girls come from lives of hurt and brokenness and have a desperate need to connect and find hope. YoungLives is committed to the long-term journey to bring hope and healing through the love of Christ. And YoungLives hopes that many people will join in this special outreach.
There are opportunities to be involved in this program, even if you aren’t able to help at the camp. Baby equipment is also a huge need for the camp, including portable cribs and high chairs.
