India (MNN) — Rescue efforts are now turning to relief efforts in Pakistan. The devastating 7.6 magnitude earthquake that killed and injured thousands, while displacing millions. Now, Christians from India will be helping in the region.

Gospel for Asia KP Yohannan says a team of 13 Gospel for Asia national missionaries are now in Srinigar, Kashmir, one of the hardest-hit areas. These men and women are bringing much-needed food, water, clothing and the Good News of Christ’s love to those who are suffering.

Controlled by the military due to border conflicts with neighboring Pakistan, the region was initially closed to relief work. But with the help of a Christian military couple from a Believers Church, GFA was granted permission to bring emergency relief supplies to minister to thousands of hurting Kashmiris.

More than 50 GFA missionaries have already been ministering in the Jammu area of India’s Jammu and Kashmir state. GFA President KP Yohannan reports that permissions have also been received from the Pakistan Embassy to send a relief team into that country to minister to the victims there.

Please pray for relief workers as they begin reaching out in love to earthquake survivors. Pray that many will open their hearts to the Lord’s love and comfort. Yohannan says, “It is Jesus, and Him alone, who can give any kind of comfort.”
