Middle East (MNN) — When you see “Asian Access” you probably don’t think of the Middle East. But last year, the Lord led Asian Access to this region so they could help new believers become effective leaders.
Khalifa*, one of Asian Access’ cohort leaders, met Talib* along the way. “We came across a fellow who is an imam; he is an established leader in [his] mosque,” Asian Access President Joe Handley says.
When they met, Talib had been researching Christ online, and he was full of questions. When Khalifa shared the Gospel with Talib and his wife, they gave their lives to Jesus.
Shortly thereafter, “his (Talib’s) contract with his mosque came up for renewal, and he’s disillusioned with Islam,” Handley says.
Talib discussed the situation with his new friend, Khalifa. “Surprisingly enough, an opening came up in an administrative role for Religious Affairs within his government. My colleague said, ‘Why don’t you resign from the mosque and take that post?’” Handley says.
“Then, you can [disciple] other imams, leading them to this life-giving hope we have in Jesus Christ.’”
Other imams have also come to know the Lord as Talib did. Many can become strategic leaders within the Body of Christ, they only need training.
That’s where you can help. Giving $100, $150, or $250 will help Asian Access continue to develop leaders like Khalifa and Talib. Support dramatic church growth in the Muslim world through Asian Access.
